Amanda Bynes 'Canned' by ABC

FINALLY...yesterday news broke on Amanda's next project. It's a TV series pilot by ABC called Canned, about a group of friends who all get fired on the same day.

Bynes will play Sarabeth, a niave midwestern girl who gets taken advantage by her boss without knowing it. Hers is one of the lead roles.

Tim Peper, Stephanie Lemelin and Baron Vaughn also join the cast of the series, which was created by Kevin Etten and executive produced by David Rosenthal and Peter Traugott.

So what do you think? Is a TV series the right step for Amanda?

NY Mag wants to see Amanda hit SNL

The fans have been saying so for years, and now NYMag's Vulture would like to see Amanda tear up the Saturday Night Live stage.

We just realized that we've been writing here on Vulture for nearly four months, and we have yet to work Amanda Bynes into one of our pieces (for shame!). Although her career has hit a bit of a rough patch of late, we still think that Bynes is one of the most gifted comediennes of her generation. The only thing keeping her back from having an Anna Faris–type career is one hit film, and we think SNL would be the perfect showcase for her talents (especially considering her background in sketch on The Amanda Show).

What do you think? Would you like to hear Amanda say, "Live from New York...it's Saturday Night?"

From Hairspray to Heathers?

Rumors are circulating that the script Amanda is developing with She's the Man director Andy Fickman is a musical remake of the 1988 cult movie, Heathers.

Kristen Bell is in talks for the lead and Denise DiNovi is executive producing the show (She also produced Amanda's What a Girl Wants) which is eventually planned to hit Broadway as early as next year.

Amanda developing a script with 'She's the Man' director

ComingSoon.Net has an interview with She's the Man director Andy Fickman about his latest project Race to Witch Mountain. In the interview he talks about what he's working on in the future and gives this great little blurb:

I always had a great time with Amanda Bynes on "She's the Man." She and I are developing a script with all my "Reefer Madness" cast like Kristen Bell and everybody.

Yay! Just the tiniest glimpse of news about a new project!
