Amanda hoping to stick around for a while

The reason moviegoers haven't seen Amanda Bynes much since 2008's dramatic Lifetime TV Movie Living Proof may be because Amanda is searching for the right direction to take her career, and is not looking to attach her name to something to make a quick buck.



Digital Spy quotes Amanda:

"I'm at that stage where I'm still young and maybe naive, but I'm figuring it out. All I want is to continue - to have a long career. I want to do stuff that I’m passionate about."

Cosmo unveils Amanda's "secret side"

Sorry for the serious lack of updates, as nothing was going on...until now!

Amanda is the January cover girl for Cosmopolitian Magazine, revealing a side of herself we've never seen before!



In the article, Amanda talks about how she's ready to transition from a teen star to serious adult actress, and how many in Hollywood don't think she can do it. She also says she wants to settle down with the right guy soon!

Examiner has a new interview with Amanda where they ask her about style.

If you weren't acting, what would you want to be doing?

I would either be a psychiatrist, makeup artist or a fashion designer. I love figuring out why people are they way they are and why they do the things they do, so psychology has always fascinated me. I love making people feel pretty so being a makeup artist would be so fun for me, and I love everything about fashion so designing clothes is a real treat!

How do you feel about girls viewing you as their beauty icon?

I feel really honored! I have had many beauty icon's growing up so I appreciate anyone viewing me as theirs!! I say being happy and a good person makes you a beauty icon!

Twilight cast member Cam Gigadent is the latest guy to be linked to Amanda...in the movies. He plays her boyfriend in the comedy Easy A. Just Jared has details:

His character Micah is a contradiction; he’s the caring boyfriend of sweet Christian girl Marianne (Amanda Bynes), he plays guitar, sings (not well) Christian hymns, respects her chastity…yet, not is all as it seems.

Musical numbers in Easy A?

An extra on the set of Easy A has sent in a report of what it was like on location, and said that a musical number was being filmed!

Yesterday's number was a song and dance I can't get out of my head, entitled "Knock On Wood."

The musical number is said to be involving Penn Badgely and Emma Stone dancing dressed up as a woodchuck and fox, respectively!

Let's hope Amanda sings again in this movie!

Amanda talks Hairspray 2, jealous girls, and new movies on the set of Easy A

Teen Television caught up with Amanda on the set of Easy A today! In this short Q&A Amanda talks jealous girls, fitting in, her experiences so far on the set of Easy A, and whether she's involved in Hairspray 2!

TeenHollywood: Are you in Footloose?

Amanda: I'm not in it. But it's okay, I'm doing Hairspray 2 so no problem. I can't give any information but it's being written.

TeenHollywood: Are you all having fun and becoming friends on the Easy A set here? It looks like you are having fun kicking back and working together.

Amanda: Yeah, we're having a great time. It's a fun, young cast and I got to work with Lisa Kudrow who I'm a huge fan of and it's great, Patricia Clarkson, Thomas Hayden Church, Stanley Tucci. It's amazing. We have such a great script and Screen Gems is amazing so I'm really happy. So far, it's been extremely fun. We've been bonding, hanging out and having a really good time.

TeenHollywood: Did you have a "normal" high school experience or were you home-schooled?

Amanda: I went to high school and I also home-schooled. I was in and out because I was doing shows so I would do school on set but, because I'm very social and I liked being around my friends, I would make both work.

TeenHollywood: Did you have a "mean girl" experience in high school?

Amanda: Yeah. I did. There were some girls who were jealous and mean. But, I was really shy when I was in high school because I was getting so much attention [working] that when I was in school, I really didn't want it because I wanted to fit in and have friends. I didn't want people to think I thought I was that great so I sort of downplayed it. But, then I realized you have to be true to yourself and your friends will like you no matter what and it's cool.

A different kind of mean girl

In Amanda's next film Easy A, set to begin filming June 9, her character is described as a 'puritanical queen bee'.

Just what does this say about her character? Puritanical is defined as: very strict in moral or religious matters, often excessively so; rigidly austere.

Amanda's character is probably going to torment Emma Stone's character, Olive, since it will be believed in the movie that Olive is a tramp of sorts. Look for her to be somewhat like Mandy Moore's character in Saved, an obsessed Christian who does everything her religion tells her not to in order to have a fellow student become 'born again' by the eyes of Christ.

Amanda's character will probably ruthlessly terrorize Olive for her supposed heathenistic ways, and shun her for breaking the rules. Since she's a queen bee, she might rally the students of the school against Olive, in a ruthless but hilarious manner!

Amanda's 'event comedy' filming June 9

Lisa Kudrow and Twilight's Cam Gigandent have joined the cast of Easy A, Amanda's next film.

It's set to begin shooting June 9th, in California. It's inspired by The Scarlett Letter. The cast is a huge hot list of up and coming and established talent.

Two movies coming from Screen Gems

Amanda has not one, but TWO films coming from a new deal she inked with Screen Gems.

First, she's a costar in the comedy Easy A, directed by William Gluck.

Easy A centers around a girl (Emma Stone) who is falsely accused of losing her virginity thanks to a nasty rumor. She then uses the rumor to become popular. Amanda plays the queen bee of the school.

The second film will be a starring role for Amanda, which she will develop with Screen Gems president Clint Culpepper.

Amanda ready to cut loose?

E! News reports that Amanda has auditioned for the Footloose remake, which was going to originally star Zac Efron but will now front Chace Crawford.

It's rumored to be a musical and Amanda auditioned for the part of Ariel, the rebellious teenage daughter of a minister who falls for Chace Crawford's character.

Also in the running for the part are Miley Cyrus, Julianne Hough, and Hayden Panettiere.

'Canned' is caput

It was announced that ABC has decided not to pick up the Canned pilot for a series.

A new guy for Ms. Bynes?

Though Amanda hit the red carpet by herself at Wednesday's Maxim Hot 100 Party, inside she spent all of her time with a new guy.

E! News reported exclusively that the two were close all night, holding hands and kissing. The guy even took pictures of Amanda for fans when they met her outside.

Apparently, she was less than composed after leaving the celebration. Fox News had a short blurb where they said she "stumbled and slurred around" while waiting for the valet. Yeah, okay. I chalk this one up to gossip. What do you guys think?

White lipstick, and Penny Pingleton blowing up the world?

More details have recently been discussed by Hairspray director Adam Shankman, and rest easy, Hairspray fans...the sequel won't be as outlandish as was first reported.

During press for 17 Again, (Shankman produced) he told a website that the film is in the process of hiring a writer, and that they will only "borrow" from the outlandish ideas presented by John Waters.

He told Collider:

There are some really funny ideas, we don't have a writer for it yet. But there are very funny ideas that me and Mark came up with. John Waters wrote a treatment that was so insane. That was really a sequel to his version of the movie. And Penny blew up the world at a certain point out of anger. It was this crazy thing. But we saw it as something to borrow from, so we took some of the less insane ideas. We are just hiring a writer now, and then we will get into it.

The ideas of Zac Efron's Link using drugs will probably be thrown out, and Ms. Baltimore Crabs aka Michelle Pfeiffer will probably not return as the villian.

I think that’s probably part of the treatment that won’t get used. And in the treatment, [Efron’s drug use] is an accident. That’s the kind of stuff where you’re like: ‘Yeah, I don’t know if that’s going to work.

There’ll be a change in villains. [John Waters’ treatment] is ideas that we’re just going to pick and choose from, and we’ll see what happens with it. Probably [no Michelle Pfeiffer]. Not because we didn’t love her, but because we just thought different adversaries [would be necessary].

Maybe Amanda could at least blow glass out of a window, if not the world, by singing...come on writers, give her a solo number!

The sequel has a working title of Hairspray 2: White Lipstick.
